CHICO — At a time when small businesses need all the help they can get, Eva Shepherd isn’t sure they are thinking “Chicostart.”

Businesses may think that only entrepreneurs fit into the incubator, but the weeks under the shelter-in-place have shown the center’s ability to channel resilience into other business arenas.

Shepherd likes to reference what Chicostart does as “an ecosystem of resources,” having helped a variety of businesses from local restaurants to tech companies since coronavirus.

“It’s like Level One survival — what do you need, how can we help, what’s the problem, what’s working, what’s not working,” Shepherd said in how Chicostart reaches out.
